Getting Started

Follow the instructions you have been given for installing PHP LockIt!.

Start the "PHP LockIt!" application. You will see a form with several buttons and entry fields. Move your mouse over one of these to see further help on this particular setting.

PHP LockIt! has 2 levels of protection. The first is obfuscation which renames your variables, functions and constants to make the script difficult to read. The second is encoding, which encodes the script using a unique key. These can be used individually or both together. In addition, you can optimise the code by stripping whitespace and comments, making it smaller and more difficult to read.

Basic Settings

Click the Folder icon next to the "Input Folder" entry box and select the folder that contains your PHP script files. If the script uses sub-folders, click the "Recurse into subfolders" checkbox.

Use the windows explorer to create a new folder that will contain the encoded files. Note that this should not be a sub-folder of the input folder. Click the Folder icon next to the "Output Folder" entry box and select the folder you just created.

PHP LockIt! will copy non-php files from the input folder to the output folder. To prevent this, select the "Ignore non-PHP files" option.

At the top of each encoded file a copyright message will be displayed. Enter an appropriate message into the "Copyright Msg" entry field.

To enable encoding, select the "Enable Encoding" checkbox. To set the encoding settings, click the "Settings..." button.

To enable obfuscation, select the "Enable Obfuscation" checkbox. To set the obfuscation settings, click the "Settings..." button.

To strip comments or whitespace (spaces, tabs etc.), select the appropriate checkbox. These are automatically enabled if you are encoding or optimising the script.

To perform optimisation of strings using double quotes, select the " Double Quotes" option. This will usually result in faster script performance.

Click the "LockIt!" button to process your script(s). An encoded copy of your script is now present in the output folder. Upload it to your web server and try it out.

Click the "Close" button to close PHP LockIt!
